Small Passenger Boat Code (Cat. B Waters)

This code applies to small commercial vessels that a) do not go to sea and b) carry no more than 12 passengers. Category B waters are Wider rivers and canals where the depth of water is generally more than 1.5 meters and where the significant wave height could not be expected to exceed 0.6 meters at any time.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency and The Association of Inland Navigation Authorities have formulated the: "Inland Waters Small Passenger Boat Codes of practice"

The Code

These are codes that you must adhere to if you run a small passenger craft. The Codes are to protect both you and your passengers from harm.

So, basically you do not need a Boatmasters Licence to run a small passenger boat, provide that you implement these codes.
