RYA Radar Course

The 1 day RYA Introduction to Radar Course is aimed at teaching students the use of Radar. In particular in using Radar to assist in decision making in Collision avoidance, pilotage and navigation.

Assumed knowledge before the course: Candidates should have a level of knowledge of navigation and collision regulations (to a level comparable with Day Skipper shore-based). NB you do not have to have RYA Day Skipper, just a similar level of knowledge.

If you do not have this level of knowledge, a pre-Radar course day can be arranged to prepare you for the course

Course Information

This is an RYA course for those who use small craft radar.

The course is classroom based and briefly covers the following subjects.

During the course you will be able to practice the above techniques on computer simulations. You will also practice plotting radar targets extensively.


Examples of real life problems with radar use will be presented to you to assist in the course


The course is normally run with 6 candidates
The cost per person is £95 with includes the cost of the course book, quiestion and answer book and certificate.

Venues

Venue for the course is Nottingham. However the course can be arranged at your Home or Club to suit you.

THere will be a travelling cost attached to the course at alternative venues.
