Advanced Boat Handling Course

A one-day course for those who wish to improve their knowledge and skills pertaining to the inland waterways.

The course content is aimed at helms persons with either the Inland Waterways Helmsmans Certificate (IWHC), my own Basic Boat Handling Course or those with sufficient experience gained by their own endeavours.

Preparing the boat and crew for the day
Close quarter boat handling using power, current and wind
Use of springs and ropes for leaving a wall or jetty
Towing techniques
River rescue techniques
Understanding tides and currents
Emergency procedures
Collision regulations
Bye laws
